SHARON, PA.
An open house for Sharon Regional Health System’s School of Nursing is 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the school, 740 E. State St.
Prospective applicants can meet faculty, attend a presentation on the application process and pre-entrance (TEAS) test, receive information on financial assistance and tour the facilities.
Through an agreement with Penn State Shenango, Sharon Regional offers students an opportunity to seamlessly earn both a diploma in nursing from Sharon Regional and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Penn State Shenango. Additional articulation agreements are in place with Youngstown State, Slippery Rock and Penn State universities.
Upcoming dates for the TEAS pre-entrance test, from 8 a.m. until noon at the School of Nursing, are: Friday and Oct. 23 and 30; Nov. 6, 13 and 20; and Dec. 4 and 11.
Completed applications and passing TEAS scores are due on or before Dec. 15 for consideration for the graduating class of 2018, which begins in August 2016.

Mini-Medical School
ROOTSTOWN
Northeast Ohio Medical University re-introduces its Mini-Medical School series beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the NEOMED Education and Wellness (NEW) Center’s Watanakunakorn Auditorium.
The series will consist of eight monthly sessions. The classes last about an hour with each covering a different health topic that is relevant to communities in Northeast Ohio.
Mini-Medical School is a series of lectures designed to help Northeast Ohio residents improve their health and well-being. Lectures will be presented by NEOMED faculty members in an easy-to-understand style. Participants will actively engage in the discussions and have the opportunity to learn more about each subject by completing post-session activities. Each class will conclude with a Q-and-A session.
The class schedule is: Wednesday, influenza; Nov. 18, heart health hypertension; Dec. 16, preventing falls; Jan. 20, 2016, oral health; Feb. 17, 2016, winter blues; March 16, 2016, arthritis; April 20, 2016, diabetes, and May 18, 2016, allergies.
The Mini-Medical School, open to the public for registration, costs $60 for the full series or $15 for each individual class.

Learn to read and decipher food labels and how information on labels relates to health during a “Healthy Eating for You: Label Reading” presentation at 12:30 p.m. Friday in the Warren Room at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, 667 Eastland Ave. SE.
Registered dietitian and community educator Bridget Lackey will lead an informational discussion and answer questions.
