Rescue Mission distribution center to close in December
YOUNGSTOWN — The Rescue Mission’s distribution center located at 2246 Glenwood Ave. will close by Dec. 31 this year.
Jim Echement, executive director of The Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley, said the closure was something that had to be done.
The location will be utilized as an emergency shelter and for other programs. A limited amount of resources, including a lack of volunteers led to the decision.
“It takes a lot of resources,” Echement said.
The center, which has helped thousands since it was acquired by the Rescue Mission in 1992, will only accept non-perishable food and personal hygiene items now.
