Paws for Emily is a fundraising effort to earn funds to acquire an assistance dog from Canine Companions for Independence for Emily Gellatly, 16, a junior at Southeast High School. She has spina bifida and uses a wheelchair.

A spaghetti dinner will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Catherine Church, 1254 Grandview Road. Cost is $8.50 for adults and $5 for children.

Autism society to offer family photo event

CANFIELD

The Autism Society of Ohio will offer a family portrait session for families with disabilities from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Mill Creek MetroParks Farm, 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Road.

Sessions will be 20 minutes per family, and choices include indoor studio portraits or holiday/outdoor seasonal settings, weather permitting.

Harsh lighting will be minimized and photographers are experienced working with individuals with disabilities.

Participating families will receive a free sitting, a best choice 5-by-7-inch photo, and three edited professional-level images taken during their session for unrestricted personal use and reproduction.

Farm barns will be open for animal visits and complimentary hayrides for the families.

Free apple cider and gluten-free baked goods from Patty’s Cookies and More also will be offered.

The event is sponsored by Ohio Naturopathic Valley Autism 5K, Aprillynne Photography and Jada Landgraver Photography.
