Southside Academy opens Tuesday

YOUNGSTOWN

Southside Fine Arts Academy will open its doors at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The academy will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays through October and will add Saturday classes in November. The free academy is open to all children in the greater Youngstown area in kindergarten through 12th grades.

The academy, located at the Fairview Arts and Outreach Center, 4220 Youngstown-Poland Road, is sponsored by Mahoning Valley Chorale.

Addiction support group will meet

POLAND

Conquer, an addiction support outreach for friends and loved ones of those suffering addiction, will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Church of the Rock, 7025 Luteran Lane. For information, email conquer2gether@gmail.com. There will be testimony of recovered addicts, addiction and recovery education, and encouragement and prayer.

Meetings will take place the third Thursday of each month.

Class of ’59 to meet

POLAND

Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1959 (not the Class of 1969) will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Fireplace Restaurant, 2075 E. Western Reserve Road. Spouses are welcome.

The wrong year was given in Friday’s Club Calendar.

Best-selling author will come to the Lake Club

POLAND

Best-selling author Adriana Trigiani is coming to the Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road, on Wednesday.

The event will include a gourmet dinner at 6:30 p.m., open bar and a copy of her newest book, “All the Stars in the Heavens.”

Tickets are $85 per person. Checks should be made payable to the Lake Club and mailed to the Lake Club, Attention: Chris Muransky, 1140 Paulin Road, Poland, OH 44514.

Trigiani’s New York Times bestseller “Big Stone Gap” is now a major motion picture and will be shown at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cinemark Tinseltown in Boardman.

Tickets for the movie are $6.15 per person and can be purchased at the door.

If you attend the movie, take your ticket stub to the Trigiani event afterward at the Lake Club for a drawing that evening and a chance to win surprise giveaways, lunch and a walking tour in New York City with Trigiani.
