Dr. Damon Reed received the Dick Vitale Heart of Gold award Sept. 24 from the Pediatric Cancer Foundation at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla. He was recognized for his research on pediatric sarcoma.

Dr. Reed is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Reed of Canfield. He is a 1994 graduate and valedictorian of Canfield High School. He is an honors graduate of the University of Dayton and Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. His pediatric residency was at Harvard’s Boston Children’s Hospital. After a pediatric oncology fellowship at St. Jude in Memphis, Tenn., he joined the Moffitt Cancer Center in 2010.

He and his wife, Jen, have three daughters.
