Crime watch to hear talk on gangsters

POLAND

The next Beaver Police Crime Watch meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at Shepherd of the Valley, 9111 Sharrot Road.

Allan R. May will be the guest speaker. May is an authority on the history of organized crime in the United States and will be speaking on gangsters and organized crime in the Mahoning Valley.

May will have some of his books for sale at the end of the program. His website can be found at www.allanrmay.com. Books will range in price from $20 to $28.

Class on pumpkin basket-weaving

MERCER, PA.

Munnell Run Farm, 753 Greenville Road, will host a pumpkin basket-weaving class from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 31. Reservations and payment are required by calling 724-662-2242 before Friday. Registration is not considered complete until payment is received. Cost is $20.

Expect roadwork delays on Market St.

HOWLAND

The Trumbull County Engineers will be milling and filling on East Market Street between North Road and state Route 46 in Howland from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The road is open, but traffic delays should be expected.

Community Fun Day in Hubbard

HUBBARD

Hubbard Area Chamber of Commerce will host Community Fun Day from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the parking lot of Save-A-Lot at 880 W. Liberty St.

There will be games for kids, concessions and local vendors. Cover band Guys without Ties will play from 3 to 7 p.m. A fireworks show, sponsored by Aqua Ohio, kicks off at 8.

Entrepreneur conference set

The City of New Castle’s Department of Community and Economic Development, in partnership with the Franklin Center of Beaver County Inc. and Penn State Extension, will have the second annual regional entrepreneur conference – Entrepreneur 2.0: Growing Momentum to 2025 – Friday.

The conference will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, 110 E. Lincoln Ave.
