CAMPBELL
Campbell police arrested a wanted fugitive in Poland Township on Saturday afternoon.
With assistance from Poland Township police, Robert R. Bollinger, 26, of Hillsville, Pa., was arrested at a public farm about 3 p.m., according to a press release from Campbell police.
The Campbell police department’s Special Investigations Unit had an ongoing investigation into Bollinger’s whereabouts and believed he would attend a family event at the farm over the weekend. Bollinger escaped from police custody at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital last December.
Bollinger had numerous warrants on felony charges out of the city of Campbell, including possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, drug-abuse instruments, drug paraphernalia and felony vandalism to a detention facility, namely, the interior of the Campbell City jail.
Bollinger was seen and identified at the farm. When a Campbell officer approached and identified himself, Bollinger tried to escape, but the officer pinned him to the ground, placing him under arrest.
The release said that additional officers arrived to disperse and calm down Bollinger’s relatives, who rapidly were approaching the arresting officer.
Police found two packs of a narcotic on Bollinger after his arrest. He was transported to Campbell City Jail and will appear in Campbell Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
