Price Memorial Church to offer jazz brunch

YOUNGSTOWN

The Women’s Day committee of Price Memorial AME Zion Church, 920 Dryden Road, will host an afternoon jazz brunch from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Live classical, contemporary and smooth jazz will be provided by David Leonard and Co.

The brunch is a kick-off event for the church’s annual Women’s Day celebration at 11 a.m. Oct. 26.

Speaker for the celebration will be the Rev. Dr. Valerie Tate-Everett, an ordained minister and Youngstown native, and her husband and co-pastor, Paul D. Everett, both of Phillips Metropolitan CME Church in Hartford, Conn.

Candy-free event set for Friday

The fourth annual Trick Nor Treat Halloween candy-free event will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at Beyond Expectations South Bridge Therapy and Learning Center, 725 Boardman-Canfield Road E1.

The event is geared to children with food allergies and special diets.

There will be pumpkin-decorating and crafts, a costume contest, basket auction and Bunnies in Baskets.

The event is free and open to the community.

Centennial Gala set at Buhl Farm

HERMITAGE, PA.

A yearlong celebration for the 100th anniversary of Buhl Farm will feature a Centennial Gala planned Friday at the Avalon at Buhl.

“Dining and Dancing through the Decades” is the theme of the event that will showcase the park from 1915 to the present. Guests will view historic photos and learn about planned projects.

Music will be provided by Second Avenue Project. Cocktail attire is recommended; guests may wear attire from a favorite decade.

Funds raised will help renovate the tennis facility including restrooms to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Cost is $100 per person.

Reservations will be taken until Wednesday.
