Mandel: Valley is ideal to unveil Rubio policy
GOSHEN
State Treasurer Josh Mandel, Ohio chairman for Marco Rubio’s presidential campaign, said the Mahoning Valley is an ideal location for the candidate to unveil his national energy policy.
“There are new jobs created in oil and gas and in manufacturing” in the area, Mandel said Friday.
Rubio, a Republican U.S. senator from Florida, will deliver the speech from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. Friday at BOC Water Hydraulics at 12024 Salem-Warren Road in Goshen Township.
BOC manufactures and services high-pressure water hydraulic products for industries including oil and gas.
“BOC Water Hydraulics is a classic American Dream story of a family-owned and veteran-owned business that represents Sen. Rubio’s vision for new jobs and economic growth resulting from America’s natural resources,” Mandel said. “I’m proud that Marco is the first presidential candidate this election to visit the Youngstown area, and I’m confident that the Mahoning Valley will embrace his inspirational message the same way that voters are throughout Ohio and America.”
Rubio is polling fourth nationally among 14 Republican presidential candidates with 9.9 percent, according to RealClearPolitics.com. Billionaire businessman Donald Trump is in first place with 23.2 percent.
In a Quinnipiac Poll of Ohio voters earlier this week, Rubio was sixth with 7 percent. The same poll shows Rubio with a 4 percentage-point lead in a head-to-head match-up in Ohio with Hillary Rodham Clinton, the Democratic presidential frontrunner.
Rubio’s visit to Salem would be his fourth to Ohio in a little over two months, Mandel said. The speech at BOC is the only event Rubio will have Friday in Ohio, Mandel said.
“Sen. Rubio is the one candidate who can unite the party and inspire the nation, and that’s why I’m proud to support him for president,” Mandel said. “We’re receiving positive and growing support for Marco throughout Ohio and the Mahoning Valley.”
