Most people approach the number 50 as a significant milestone, be it a birthday or anniversary.
Stephen Hogan, 45, also is very close to his 50th, but it’s not a milestone most would look forward to.
With citations Thursday on charges of misdemeanor counts of fleeing and eluding, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension, Hogan is now a defendant for the 48th time in a criminal case, be it at the municipal, common pleas or county court level. Those are the cases that were found on online court records.
The traffic citation also is Hogan’s 19th suspension on his license, reports said.
Reports said police pulled over a car Hogan was driving about 5:50 p.m. for running a stop sign, and as officers walked up to the car, Hogan drove off. He was caught by police at East Indianola Avenue near South Avenue, reports said.
Reports said Hogan was taken out of the car, and when he was searched, police found a crack pipe on him. The records-check revealed the suspensions, reports said.
There also was a crack pipe in the car where the passenger, Christopher Cox, 34, of East Palestine, was sitting, reports said. Cox also was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Court records show that Hogan has pending theft cases in county court in Austintown and Boardman, and a theft charge in Austintown was dismissed earlier this year because video showed another person committing the crime, according to court records.
Hogan also has a felony breaking-and-entering case pending in common pleas court and a trial date set for Nov. 6, according to court records.
Of his court cases, 17 have been in municipal court, according to court records.
Of the remaining 31 cases on the county level, five are at the common-pleas level while the rest are at the county-court level.
