Highway patrol investigates car-SUV crash on I-680

A crash Friday afternoon on Interstate 680 northbound between U.S. Route 224 and Midlothian Boulevard is under investigation.

The Canfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said a person calling in the accident said it was a head-on crash, but no further details were available Friday night.

Traffic was backed up about a mile after a car and an SUV collided shortly before 3:30 p.m., according to Vindicator broadcast partner 21 WFMJ-TV.

One person was trapped in one of the vehicles and was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
