What: Enjoy a tour through our Vanishing Acts outdoor exhibit by one of our garden guides. Explore why trees are under threat around the world and here in Ohio.

Colors & Reflections Hike

When: Sunday, 2–4:30 p.m.

What: Join us to circle Lake Glacier. Because of its variety of tree species and their watery reflections, it’s usually Mill Creek Park’s best place for autumn color. Moderate difficulty, 4 miles.

Where: Ford Nature Center

Cost: Free

Putting the Garden to Bed

When: Wednesday, 6 p.m.

What: There’s a lot of work to be done in the fall to reduce disease next year and to ensure plants will survive the winter.

Where: In the Garden @ OSU Extension, Trumbull County, 520 W. Main St., Cortland.

When: Next Thursday, 6:30–8 p.m.

What: Explore the benefits of a “whole foods,” plant-based diet during this series of three classes led by Samie Winick and Michelle O’Brien.

Pumpkin Carving

When: Next Thursday to Oct. 17, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.

What: Have fun helping to carve pumpkins for display at the Pumpkin Walk at Twilight on Oct. 18. Carving area is in the service building (it may be chilly, so dress in warm layers). Carving tools will be available or bring your own. While supplies last.

Perennials: Fall Care, Blooming Chart

When: Oct. 25, 9:30 a.m.-noon.

What: Join Marilyn as she covers creating a blooming chart for your garden to guarantee color all through the growing season and beyond. Learn about winter observation to ensure your plants look great.

Where: OSU Extension Office, Canfield.

Cost: $15, includes handouts and refreshments.
