JA breakfast to honor several

YOUNGSTOWN

Today at St. Elizabeth’s Boardman Campus, Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley will host a recognition breakfast for volunteers, donors and supporters.

The event is an opportunity for Junior Achievement to honor several individuals and organizations for their contributions and leadership supporting local programs.

The following are honorees: PNC Bank, I CAN SAVE and Grow up Great programs; Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Whole School Partner; Ken Grisdale, retired Poland Seminary High School educator; Paul Herold, past JA board member and Bowl-a-Thon chairman; Kevin Murphy, Harrington, Hoppe and Mitchell LLC and past board member; Kim Urig, JA volunteer; Monica Zackeroff and Joseph Tarantine, community volunteers.

Paladin Brewing to release new beer

AUSTINTOWN

Paladin Brewing, 6520 Mahoning Ave., will release a new beer this weekend. Named CraveMore, the new beer is a strong Scottish ale, dark ruby in color, with a complex finish and hints of smoke and peat, paired with a malty richness from caramel and roasted malts.

Paladin has invited Yolo Grille and Tap Room in Austintown to serve smoked steak and garlic chicken in the tasting tavern Friday and Saturday. The tasting tavern opens at 4 p.m. Friday, and the first tap pull of CraveMore will take place at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the tavern is open from 2 to 10 p.m.

With the CraveMore release, Paladin now offers six beers.

Ribbon-cutting set

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will have a ceremonial ribbon-cutting at The Smoothie Shop, 7403 Market St. at 11 a.m. Friday.

NCST to host open house Nov. 5

NEW CASTLE

The New Castle School of Trades, 4164 U.S. Route 422, Pulaski, Pa., will have an open house from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 5.

Participants will be able to tour the facility and receive information on the school’s programs and services. They also will be able to meet and hear from many of the region’s most-successful companies.

New CEO for TJX

NEW YORK

TJX, the company behind T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and other discount stores, said Wednesday that it appointed President Ernie Herrman as the retailer’s next CEO.

He will replace current CEO Carol Meyrowitz on Jan. 31. Meyrowitz, 61, will continue to be chairman of the board and has agreed to stay with the company for three years. She has been CEO of TJX since 2007.

Herman, 54, has worked at TJX for about 26 years, and was appointed president in 2011.
