Chicken pie dinner Saturday at church

Fowler United Methodist Church, 3246 Youngstown-Kingsville Road, will sponsor a chicken pie dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday.
The menu includes potato, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw, bread, dessert and drink. Takeouts will be available. The cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children 6 to 12 and free for preschoolers. Call 330-638-5189.
Ohio author will attend signing event

Ohio author Nancy Christie will be part of Leana’s Books & More author signing event Saturday at the Shenango Valley Mall, 3303 E. State St.
She will be signing copies of her books, “Traveling Left of Center and Other Stories” and “The Gifts of Change” from noon to 4 p.m.
Christie is the founder of Celebrate Short Fiction Day, a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors and Short Fiction Writers Guild and the host of the monthly Monday Night Writers group in Canfield.

Special Mass, dinner scheduled by parish
YOUNGSTOWN
Holy Apostles Parish at St. Stephen of Hungary Church, 854 Wilson Ave., will have a Mass of Three Cultures featuring hymns and prayers from Croatian, Hungarian and Polish traditions at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 18.
A stuffed cabbage dinner will be served from noon to 3 p.m. Advance-only tickets will be sold after Masses at 9 a.m. Sunday at St. Stephen and at 4 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Church, 421 Covington St., the two churches of the parish.
Tickets also are available at the church office by calling 330-743-1905 by Wednesday.
Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and younger. The menu includes mashed potatoes, salad, vegetable, bread and butter, dessert, coffee, tea and water.
