FOOTBALL

OHSAA computer ratings

The current computer playoff ratings has 14 Mahoning Valley teams in contention for Week 11. Those schools are Austintown Fitch, Warren Harding, Poland, Ursuline, Salem, Crestview, LaBrae, South Range, Lisbon, McDonald, Columbiana, Warren JFK, Mathews and Jackson-Milton. On the outside looking in are Boardman, Howland, Canfield, Hubbard, West Brance, Western Reserve and Springfield. The top 16 teams in each region of Division I qualify and the top eight in Divisions II-VII.

VOLLEYBALL

Lakeview 25-19-24-31-15, Boardman 22-25-25-29-10

CORTLAND

Jensen Silbaugh made 26 kills while Annie Pavlansky contributed 22 kills, six blocks and three aces for the Bulldogs (17-2, 11-0 All-American Conference). Taylor Casassa scored 14 points, Laney Lytle made 41 assists and Maddie Buch made 28 digs. For the Spartans (13-4, 8-3), Krista Johnson made 18 kills, Courtney Platt had 26 digs and Katie Platt had 34 assists and five aces. JV: Lakeview, 2-1.

Austintown Fitch 14-25-25-25, Hubbard 25-16-18-23

HUBBARD

For the Eagles, Adria Powell had 15 kills, Addy Jarvis had 10 kills and 18 digs, and Emily Krinos had 35 assists and 14 points. For the Falcons, Sarah Obradovich had 12 kills, 16 digs, 11 points, and three aces. Natelie Lynn had 16 points and three aces, and Bree Hunter had 15 assists to lead Fitch to a victory.

Canfield 25-25-25, Girard 10-11-12

GIRARD

Maddy Johns notched 13 kills and nine blocks for Canfield, while Emma Hartshorn paced the Cardinals with 19 assists and three kills. Morgan Leonard also had seven kills and four aces for Canfield. For Girard, Melanie Bakes logged four kills, 11 assists and four points to go along with Megan Payich’s 10 digs.

LaBrae 17-26-22-25-16, Brookfield 25-24-25-21-14

LEAVITTSBURG

Kenzie Drapola had 21 points and six aces, Katie Bender had 42 assists, and Bailey Drapola had 21 kills for the Warriors. Mirando Dodrill had three aces, 16 kills, and seven blocks, Allie Middleton had 30 assists and Morgan Meyer had 12 points and 19 digs for LaBrae.

Struthers 25-25-25, East 8-7-8

STRUTHERS

Amanda Zupko had six kills, Karli Shives had five kills, and Abby Hughes had 30 assists for Struthers. Larazia Tolbert had 16 digs, Keasia Spikes had eight digs, and JoVohana Hughes had twelve blocks for East.

East Liverpool 25-25-21-25, Ursuline 17-10-25-17

YOUNGSTOWN

Destiny Goodnight had 17 kills, 12 digs, seven points, and three blocks for the Irish, with the help of Madison Kelly, who had 14 points and nine assists, and Cassie Hanuschak, who had seven points and 10 digs. No stats were reported for East Liverpool.

Mooney 25-25-12-25-15, Lisbon 23-27-25-22-9

YOUNGSTOWN

Kimmi Wigger had 30 kills and 20 digs, and Karlee Pezzano had 45 assists for Lisbon. Taylor Martin had 19 kills, Maddie Abrigg had 13 kills and 22 digs, and Autumn DeSantis had eight kills and seven blocks for the Cardinals, whose record is now 13-4. JV: Mooney 2-0.

Jefferson 25-25-25, Warren Harding 21-22-13

WARREN

Kristin Sampson had five points, three aces, and 20 assists, Allyson Crays had five points and three aces, and Shymara Dykes had 10 kills and one block for Harding. No stats were reported for Jefferson. JV: Jefferson 2-0.

Heartland 25-23-12-25-15, Lowellville 13-25-25-20-11

LOWELLVILLE

Bonnie Flynn led the way with 12 points, 37 kills and 52 digs as Heartland Christian (10-9) defeated the Rockets. Brianna LaRocca also notched six points, 43 assists and 12 digs for Heartland Christian, while Jacquelyn Chapman logged seven points, 10 kills, 17 digs and five blocks. JV: Heartland Christian, 2-0.

Southern 25-25-25, Columbiana 11-18-17

COLUMBIANA

For the Clippers (7-10), Dee Dixon made six kills and five blocks while Haley Tohm had eight blocks, three digs and four points. Alexis Cross made six kills.

Champion 25-25-23-9-15, Campbell 7-21-25-25-13

CHAMPION

Corrin Calderone recorded a team-high nine kills for Champion and Summer Fassnacht notched 32 assists as the Golden Flashes downed Campbell. Maggie Dunlap also recorded eight kills, while Ashley Naylor and Jackie Mullivan each logged 17 digs.

Western Reserve 25-26-25, Jackson-Milton 14-24-17

BERLIN CENTER

Western Reserve (12-6) improved to 5-0 in conference play as Elizabeth Bowman notched 13 points and four aces, while Sydney Miller scored eight points and two aces. For the Jackson-Milton (8-10, 4-2), Amy Ritchie led the way with 16 points, six kills and three blocks. JV: Western Reserve, 2-1

BOYS SOCCER

Boardman 1, Canfield 0

CANFIELD

Chris Dailey scored the only goal of the game assisted by Robb Lewis, leading Boardman to a victory. The Spartans’ goalkeeper, Kevin Durkin, had 12 saves, while Canfield’s goalkeeper, Jeff Joseph, had three saves. JV: Canfield 2, Boardman 1.

Ursuline 3, Massillon Washington 1

CINCINNATI

Gianni Quattro scored all three goals for the Irish, who defeated Massillon Washington at Paul Brown Stadium. Mark Fusillo also picked up two assists for Ursuline, while Bryce Blazek recorded two saves. For Massillon Washington, Craig Gessling notched seven saves and Brian Corbin scored the lone goal.

Poland 4, Hubbard 0

HUBBARD

Matt Holsinger, Marcus Trevis, Ethan Gerak and Reed McCreery all recorded goals for Poland (7-1-5). Bryan Montgomery also logged four saves for the Bulldogs, while Jake Shaffer had seven saves for Hubbard (5-3-3).

Austintown Fitch 8, Lakeside 0

SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP

Tex Martin scored Fitch’s first goal in the 30th minute and the Falcons (9-2-1) rolled from there on out. Alex Kilpatrick and Blake Baker each scored two goals, while Zac Castro, Kyle Cyphert and Cameron Sobien all scored a goal apiece. Lakeside fell to 0-12.

Warren JFK 2, Cleveland Benedictine 1

CLEVELAND

Thanks to two goals by Jake Balest, JFK (4-7-2) came back to defeat Benedictine after falling behind within the first two minutes. Jonathan Hailey got Benedictine on the board first with a goal, but Balest notched two first-half scores on assists by Joey Sidoti and Christopher Mannella.
