A Youngstown man, Daniel S. Krotky, 48, was killed when his bicycle collided with a car on state Route 170 about 1:18 p.m. Tuesday. According to the Canfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the car, driven by Clydine G. Watson, 86, of Struthers, was eastbound on Route 170 in the right lane and Krotky was westbound in the eastbound lane.

Krotky was knocked off his bicycle by the collision. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Watson suffered minor injuries.

The OSHP stopped Watson shortly after the crash after noticing damage to her vehicle. No charges were immediately filed in connection with the crash. Officers said the case will be turned over to the Mahoning County Prosecutor’s office for further investigation.

To date in 2015, Mahoning County has had 16 crashes in which 18 were killed: 10 rural crashes with 12 deaths, and six urban crashes with six killed, the OSHP reported.
