Akron Children's postpones groundbreaking for $18.6 million Boardman expansion

BOARDMAN

Ground breaking for Akron Children’s Hospital’s $18.6 million, 51,000 square foot expansion project at its Mahoning Valley Beeghly Campus in Boardman, scheduled for noon today, is postponed.

Late Tuesday, the hospital withdrew its zoning request after hearing concerns from area residents about noise and parking.

The hospital plans to review its plans and is confident a compromise can be reached so its planned investment in the health of children of the Mahoning Valley can move forward with the full support of the community, Akron Children’s officials said.
