Volunteers sought for afterschool program

YOUNGSTOWN

Bondage Busters, an afterschool program, is seeking volunteers to mentor and tutor youths in the activity at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 420 Clearmount Drive.

Sessions are from 4:30 at 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

The third annual Octoberfest sponsored by Crumbles Bakery, 5512 Youngstown-Poland Road, took place Oct. 2.

The wrong date was given in a recent Society Digest.

Historical society to host Fall Open House

POLAND

The Poland Historical Society will host a Fall Open House from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Little Red Schoolhouse, 4515 Center Road (Route 224).

This free activity gives visitors an opportunity see the inside of the schoolhouse and the many historical items on display.

Children will be able to paint a pumpkin and enjoy various games and activities.

The Historical Society’s October meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at the schoolhouse.

Election of the 2016 officers and trustees will take place.

At 7:30 the program will be a presentation by Ken Ekis, director of operations for the Poland Local Schools.

He will discuss the Poland schools and the November elections.
