A proposed 0.25 percent increase in the Niles income-tax rate is on the Nov. 3 ballot. The city estimates it will raise $900,000 per year starting in 2016.

Sample administrator salaries (annual base wages): light superintendent: $63,720, police captain, $70,338.

Other sample salaries (annual base wages): meter readers, $36,379; tree trimmer, $41,413; payroll clerk, $41,205.
