Custody hearing for Rainn Peterson takes place today
WARREN — A custody hearing will be today in Trumbull County Family Court to determine custody for Rainn Peterson, the girl found Sunday in a field in North Bloomfield after being missing for two days.
The girl's great grandparents, who were in charge of her care when she went missing Friday from their North Bloomfield home, will be asking for custody, according to TV 21 WFMJ, The Vindicator's broadcast partner.
Rainn was still recovering Monday in St. Joseph Warren Hospital, though Trumbull County Sheriff Thomas Altiere said the girl was "doing very well, a little dehydrated."
The girl's mother, Brandi Peterson, 24, who has also lived at times at the North Bloomfield address, told WFMJ she was permitted to see her daughter Monday afternoon at the hospital. It was the first time she was allowed to see her daughter since she was found by a volunteer searcher in a field along Peck Leach Road.
The visitation was only allowed under the supervision of officials from Trumbull County Children’s Services.
Brandi Peterson expressed frustration to WFMJ over the way she's been treated since her daughter went missing.
"I feel like ever since this incident started I was a suspect, from strangers to family members to friends. They all tried to accuse me when I lost my child. I didn't know where she was. Very frustrating and aggravating," she said.
