Coalition urges Youngstown voters to reject the anti-fracking Community Bill of Rights
YOUNGSTOWN
A coalition of business, labor and political officials are urging Youngstown voters to reject the anti-fracking Community Bill of Rights charter amendment on the ballot.
While members of the Mahoning Valley Coalition for Job Growth and Investment said today that the proposal is unenforceable and unconstitutional, if voters approve it, it would lead to a court fight and impact jobs.
Members of Frack Free Mahoning Valley, which back the bill, said Youngstown residents have the right to determine if they want fracking and other oil and gas drilling in their city.
Similar proposals have been rejected by city voters four times: twice in both 2013 and 2014.
Today is the start of early voting. The election is Nov. 3.
