The Youngstown Section of the National Council of Negro Women Inc. is planning its 38th annual membership luncheon and auction Oct. 17 at St. Mark Orthodox Church hall, 3560 Logan Way, Liberty. The theme is “Passing the Torch to the Next Generation of Leaders.”
The event will begin with gift baskets available for raffle at 11:30 a.m. which will benefit the McGuffey Centre. Lunch will follow from noon to 2 p.m. Attorney Kristin Howard will be the speaker and Patricia Gandy of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church will provide music.
Tickets are $25 and are available by calling Angela Pickett, second vice president, at 330-245-7617 or Sandy Britt, president, at 330-502-9800.
Mary McLeod Bethune founded the non-profit organization in 1935, which seeks to improve the quality of life for women and their communities.
