Free Howl-O-Ween Canine Carnival

BOARDMAN

Boardman Park, 375 Boardman-Poland Road, along with Animal Charity, are hosting a free Howl-O-Ween Canine Carnival from noon to 4 p.m. next Sunday at the Masters Pavilion and Lariccia Bocce Court.

Activities will include a doggy costume contest, 4H agility demonstrations, Boardman police dog, nonprofit dog rescues, presentations by local vets, vendors, Bounce-A-Rounds, Jock-O The Balloon Man and more. Food concessions will also be available.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Animal Charity and Marge Hartman’s Paws Town at Boardman Park.

Lottery calendars benefit shelter

NEW CASTLE, PA.

A general sale of 2016 lottery calendars to benefit the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County, 1218 W. State St., is underway. The shelter sells the calendars each year to benefit victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The shelter is the only domestic violence/sexual assault victim service agency in Lawrence County, and calendar sales help support numerous free services, including emergency shelter, transitional housing, medical/legal advocacy, counseling and prevention education.

Farmers’ market extended one week

ELLWOOD CITY, PA.

The Ellwood City Revitalization’s EC Farmers’ Market, which was slated to end its season Saturday, has extended the market for one week. Continued success with fall crops, baked goods, poultry and beef has allowed vendors to participate. The market will be open 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, and vendors Sperdute’s Farms, 3D Farms, Katy’s Baked Goods, A1 Fudge, Awesome Acres and more will sell their goods. Sperdute’s Farms and 3D Farms are now accepting vouchers as payment for fresh produce. The market is located in the municipal parking lot on the 500 block of Beaver Avenue.
