Suicide Prevention walk set at park
YOUNGSTOWN
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is hosting the 2015 Out of the Darkness Community Walk at 10 a.m. Oct. 10 at Mill Creek Park. Cindy Orslene is chairman of the event. She and her husband lost a 25 year-old family member in 2013 and have been inspired to find a support group to help others who are depressed or contemplating suicide.
The foundation is asking the community to join in the cause to raise money for education and research for the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. Walkers and volunteers are welcome. For information visit www.afsp.org/walk or www.outofthedarkness.org and search for the Youngstown walk. Those interested also can email corslene@yahoo.com or call Cindy at 330-720-2975.
AFSP relies heavily on donations and community walks to raise awareness and funds that will be used in our area. Last year more than 500 participants generated more than $16,000.
