Staff report
NORTH BLOOMFIELD
Trumbull County Sheriff Thomas Altiere said his office has “enormous amounts” of people actively searching for a missing 2-year-old girl.
Rainn Peterson was last seen at 7759 state Route 45 about 7:20 p.m. Friday. It appears that she walked away from the home, according to Trumbull County 911.
Altiere said the Ohio Beureau of Criminal Investigations, FBI and U.S. Marshals are among the agencies participating in the search. Search dogs from the Columbus area also are being used. He said investigators are looking into the possibility that the child left the home through the garage. He said they are also following every possible lead.
According to Vindicator broadcast broadcast partner 21 WFMJ-TV, the child was in temporary custody with her great grandparents who live at the home on state Route 45, where the toddler was last seen. WFMJ also reported that the great grandparents have been cooperative with the investigation. Detectives have also interviewed sex offenders who live in the area where the girl disappeared.
Altiere said the child’s mother, Brandi Peterson, was with a friend at the time of the disappearance.
The Ohio Attorney General has posted an alert for the missing child on its missing persons website.
