Police said they found methamphetamine and other drugs inside a West Ravenwood Avenue home Thursday when arresting a man wanted on a warrant from Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Rodrick Jackson, 29, who also calls himself Roderick Jackson, was arrested by members of the Adult Parole Authority and members of the police department’s Community Policing Unit and Vice Squad, who were in the area as part of their weekly crime sweep.
Reports said Jackson was wanted on a warrant for a third-degree felony charge of escape that was issued Sept. 25. He was indicted by a grand jury on the charge Aug. 13, just three days after he was sentenced to jail and probation in municipal court on a misdemeanor drug case and two separate driving-under-suspension cases.
The drug case there came from a July 29 arrest in which reports said Jackson hid in insulation in a crawl space from members of the vice squad, who were serving a search warrant investigating drug activity at the same home he was arrested in just before 6 p.m. Thursday. He also faced an animal-cruelty charge in that case, and he was ordered to get a job and keep it.
At the time he was sentenced in municipal court, he told the judge he was an expectant father and had a set of twins on the way.
There were four people in the home when police arrived, and they were all taken out and questioned. Inside the home, police found two pills, a bag of powder that later was found to be methampetamine and a bag of marijuana.
Two of the people there were issued citations for smoking marijuana, reports said.
Assistant City Prosecutor Jeffrey Moliterno said Jackson has 10 previous charges of failure to appear in court in municipal court within the last 10 years.
Judge Milich set his bond at $55,000.
