Two men jailed after police track breaking and entering suspects

BOARDMAN
Two men are in the Mahoning County jail after they were arrested early Friday after Boardman and Youngstown police tracked them through a heavily wooded area.
Dana Jackson, 45, and Harold Michaels, 41, both of Youngstown, are charged with one count each of breaking and entering and receiving stolen property, both felony offenses. Michaels also is charged with felony possession of criminal tools.
The charges stem from an incident about 1:30 a.m. Friday, when township police were dispatched to a South Avenue residence for a burglary in progress.
The homeowner reported that a pickup truck – which police later discovered to be stolen – drove onto the property, then back to a detached garage used for an automotive business.
Upon arrival, police reportedly set up a perimeter and started a track, with the help of Youngstown police and a dog, into a wooded area where the suspects had fled.
Michaels and Jackson reportedly were caught by YPD in the woods near South Avenue and Simon Road.
A search of Mahoning County court records indicates that Michaels has an open case in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for a second-degree felony charge of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity and multiple felony-theft charges, plus prior convictions on charges such as breaking and entering and obstructing official business.
Court records show that Jackson also has a criminal history, including a 2013 conviction for receiving stolen property and forgery.
The two are scheduled to appear in Mahoning County Area Court on Tuesday.
