Two men jailed after police track breaking and entering suspects

BOARDMAN

Two suspects are in the Mahoning County jail after they were arrested early this morning after Boardman and Youngstown police tracked them through a heavily wooded area.

Dana Jackson, 45, and Harold Michaels, 41, both of Youngstown, are charged with one count each of breaking and entering and receiving stolen property, both felony offenses. Michaels also is charged with felony possession of criminal tools.

The charges stem from an incident about 1:30 a.m., when police were dispatched to a South Avenue residence for a burglary in progress.

The homeowner reported that a pickup truck - which police discovered to be stolen - drove onto her property, then back to a detached garage used for an automotive business.

Upon arrival, police reportedly set up a perimeter and started a track, with the help of Youngstown police and a dog, into a wooded area where the suspects had fled.

Michaels and Jackson reportedly were caught by YPD in the woods near South Avenue and Simon Road.

The two are scheduled to appear in Mahoning County Area Court here Tuesday.
