The Numbers Band marks 45 years with Kent Stage concert

KENT

When Robert Kidney started 15 60 75 (the Numbers Band) in 1970, the impetus for the group was to play his interpretation of Chicago blues. The fact that the group is still going strong 45 years later is mind boggling to Kidney.

“Yeah, I’m surprised, humbled and stunned,” Kidney said. “I can’t really get my mind to accept it, especially when these road markers come by and the number is 45.”

To celebrate the band’s special anniversary, the Numbers Band has booked a unique show Saturday at the Kent Stage, 175 E. Main St., Kent. Tickets are $15 at the door.

Kidney said he expects to see roughly 15 musicians spanning the group’s long history on stage. This includes three different drummers and nine bass players, as well as special guests such as jazz saxophonist Ernie Krivda and former Pere Ubu bassist Tony Maimone.
