Lake Newport continues to have elevated levels of E coli, sampling shows
YOUNGSTOWN
The Mahoning County District Board of Health has sampled and received results from the 10th week of water quality testing of Lake Newport.
Samples were collected from the three original testing locations and the six additional exploratory sites throughout the Mill Creek Park Watershed.
“The results from all nine samples were elevated for E coli with seven of the nine samples all reading greater than 2420.The sampling will continue through the week of October 12th, 2015 and the data will then be analyzed in order to look for potential problem areas as well as trends or correlations between weather and the levels of E. coli in Lake Newport.” said Ryan Tekac, Director of Environmental Health for the Mahoning County District Board of Health.
