Winery will host Yappy Hour Saturday

Myrddin Winery, 3020 Scenic Ave., will host its third annual Yappy Hour from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Take your canine friend.
There will be $3 wine and sangria tastings and a special $5 “Paw Pass” of tasty treats for your dog.
A basket auction and doggie grab bag table also will be available.
All proceeds will go to Lil’ Lee’s veterinary care. Lil’ Lee is a 5-year-old lab mix who recently came into care with the Humane Society of Columbiana County. She had a broken leg, and her former owner was unable to provide veterinary care. Once her leg is healed she will be available for adoption. For information email at hscchumane@yahoo.com.
Tasting event set at Tyler Center

Recipes of Youngstown “Comforts from our Kitchen” will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St.
The tasting event will celebrate the comfort foods of Youngstown’s heritage.
Six tasting tickets cost $5. There also will be a kolachi contest, raffle baskets and prizes, and takeout containers will be provided for purchases.
Recipes of Youngstown cookbooks one and two will be sold for $21.50 each, which includes tax.
Proceeds support the Recipes of Youngstown Kitchen in the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center. Free parking is adjacent.

Kidney Foundation plans walk and picnic

Eastern Regional Kidney Foundation will host its 5th annual Kidney Awareness Walk and Renal Family Picnic on Sunday at Canfield Fairgrounds, 7265 Columbiana-Canfield Road.
This year the benefit is in memory of Sylvia Riley, a former dialysis patient.
Registration for the walk is $25 and begins at 9 a.m. The walk starts at 11. Children under 10 participate for free.
The picnic is for participants and their families.
Dialysis patients and kidney transplant recipients can attend for free but must register for the picnic and to receive a T-shirt. Other walkers can purchase T-shirts for $10 or will receive a T-shirt free for $100 or more in pledges.
There also will be a basket drawing and a 50-50 raffle. Kids can have a picture taken with the mascot.
Proceeds will benefit dialysis patients and transplant recipients and will support the mission of educating the community. Six of 10 people are at risk for developing kidney disease.
Fundraiser for Welch planned for Sunday

A fundraiser for Chuck Welch will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Freeway Lanes, 2700 Parkman Road NW.
Welch has been battling colorectal cancer since September 2010. Proceeds will benefit him and his family with his accumulating and continuing medical expenses.
Prize raffles, a basket auction, bowling sweeper tournament and other events will be offered. Drawings will begin at 3.
Bowling is optional. The cost for three games, shoes and lunch will be $10 per person.
