Red Wanting Blue to play free concert before Sunday's Queen of Hearts draw

AUSTINTOWN — A free concert will precede the next Queen of Hearts drawing at Barry Dyngles.

The pub announced that Red Wanting Blue will play at the pub at 5:30 p.m. Sunday for a free outdoor concert. RWB was the headline act for Federal Frenzy, a free music and arts festival on Federal and North Phelps streets in downtown Youngstown this past spring.

The Columbus-based band also played a New Year’s Eve show at the B&O Station to end 2014 and the band’s drummer, Dean Anshutz, and frontman Scott Terry’s girlfriend are both natives of the Mahoning Valley, according to Vindicator files.

The pub at 1601 S. Raccoon Road had fewer crowds this past Sunday than previous Queen of Hearts drawings because the owner of the ticket pulled need not be present to win 100 percent of the jackpot. Previously, the pub had a “house rule” that if the ticket owner was not present they would only win 50 percent of the jackpot if the elusive Queen of Hearts was picked.

Seven cards remain on the board that began with 54 spots last October as the jackpot has continued to climb.

Last Sunday's drawing was for more than $1.2 million and the pub has seen daily lines of people buying tickets since then. Projections for this Sunday surpass $1.7 million.
