POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Sept. 23
Citation: Police issued a minor-misdemeanor citation charging 29-year-old Stacy M. Ramun of Apache Lane, Poland, with failure to control her canine.
BOARDMAN
Sept. 25
Theft: A man in his 20s reportedly stole a $10 set of audio headphones from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Theft: Authorities in the 800 block of Boardman-Poland Road arrested 25-year-old Joseph A. Darby on two theft counts. Darby, of Southern Boulevard, Boardman, was accused of stealing a total of 35 DVDs on two occasions from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Counterfeit: A Lockwood Boulevard man who had placed an ad on Craigslist to sell a vehicle for $3,100 reported getting a check for $1,500 more than the asking price before his bank discovered the check was phony.
Theft: Kayla S. Sweitzer, 26, of Southern Boulevard, Boardman, was charged in the theft of $153 worth of merchandise from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road.
Theft: Officers responded to a person in distress at a Doral Drive store, where they took into custody Dominic Ditosto III, who listed addresses on South Avenue in Boardman and East Indianola Road in Youngstown. Ditosto, 40, was wanted on a Trumbull County warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on a theft charge.
Misuse of a credit card: A Cover Drive woman found $360 worth of fraudulent activity to her account, including a $280 unauthorized charge that originated from a Colorado store.
Theft: Gina M. Bellotta of Washingtonville Road, Salem, faced one count of theft. The 19-year-old Bellotta was accused of taking about $42 worth of merchandise from Walmart.
Theft: Two owners of a Southern Park Mall salon discovered an undisclosed amount of money missing from their business.
Theft: A Youngstown boy, 13, was accused of stealing a $16 pair of socks from Touchdown Gifts and More in Southern Park Mall.
Theft: Johnna L. Donnelly, 44, of Highland Avenue, New Castle, Pa., was charged with stealing $530 worth of women’s clothing from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.
Sept. 26
Arrest: Officers took into custody 47-year-old Michael J. Baker at his Southern Boulevard residence. The Boardman man was wanted on a Struthers Municipal Court warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Criminal mischief: Police picked up 35-year-old Jason A. Taylor at his Havenwood Drive home on a criminal-mischief charge after a Sept. 22 incident in which a neighbor reported someone had poured motor oil on some of his flowers.
Auto theft: A 2012 Nissan Versa was stolen in the 3900 block of South Schenley Avenue.
Harassment: A Tam-o-Shanter Drive woman said her former boyfriend sent her more than 30 such text messages and made unwanted calls.
Theft: A man reportedly stole three leather coats from Burlington Coat Factory, 529 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Theft: A global-positioning-system device and an owner’s manual were removed from a vehicle in the 100 block of Afton Avenue.
Identity theft: A Hampton, Conn., man learned about two unauthorized charges to his account that had originated at a kiosk in a Boardman-Poland Road big-box store.
Burglary/auto theft: A 2014 Chevrolet Malibu was stolen after someone had entered a garage in the 600 block of Silver Meadow Lane.
Arrest: Police on Mathews Road pulled over and charged Christopher A. Curlee of Francisca Avenue, Youngstown, with operating a vehicle impaired and child endangering after saying the 49-year-old Curlee’s blood-alcohol count registered 0.136, which exceeds Ohio’s 0.08 legal limit. Also, six children were in the car, a report showed.
Burglary: Occurred in the 7300 block of Salinas Trail, where a $6,000 tenor saxophone was stolen.
Arrest: Anthony M. Whitaker, 29, of North Schenley Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired after having been pulled over on Mathews Road. Whitaker’s blood-alcohol count was 0.133, a report said.
Theft: A Shelbourne Drive man noticed a $300 set of headphones and a cellphone charger missing from his car.
Recovered property: Three credit cards and an Ohio operator’s license were found nearby after someone had entered a vehicle in the 200 block of Forest Park Place.
Theft: A Hillsville, Pa., woman reported her cellphone stolen while at a Doral Drive big-box store.
Assault/theft: A West Boulevard woman alleged a friend struck her face and stole $130, a money order and her iPhone, apparently after becoming irate when she had sent a text message to another person.
Arrest: Police picked up 19-year-old Rayvenn D. Ortiz, who listed addresses on Charles Avenue in Boardman and East Dewey Avenue in Youngstown. She was wanted on two warrants charging failure to appear in court.
Burglary: To a residence in the 100 block of Meadowbrook Avenue, possibly through a bedroom window. A $350 Sony PlayStation 3 game system was taken.
Sept. 27
Auto theft: A 2002 Hyundai Sonata was stolen in the 3900 block of Hudson Drive.
Theft: A 16-year-old Painsville boy was accused of stealing three Sony PlayStation 3 games and a headset from Walmart.
Drugs: While responding to possible suspicious activity in the 700 block of Tudor Lane, officers charged 48-year-old Debra E. Krug of Southern Boulevard, Boardman, with possession of drug paraphernalia and drug-abuse instruments after alleging Krug had a suspected crack-cocaine pipe and a syringe.
Theft: Paul S. Hill, 49, of Alameda Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with stealing a $123 computer router and two food items from Walmart.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 4700 block of Southern Boulevard was found with two shattered windows, including the front windshield.
Domestic violence: A 17-year-old township boy was charged after his brother alleged the teen had struck his face during an argument regarding an article of clothing the victim was wearing.
Theft: Authorities charged Qunio R. Wilson, 20, with theft after alleging Wilson, of East Lucius Avenue, Youngstown, had stolen two BB guns and other small items from Walmart. Also charged was a 15-year-old Youngstown boy.
Menacing: A Paxton Road woman alleged her boyfriend threatened to burn her truck as they argued about their relationship.
Criminal mischief: Someone in the 8200 block of Hitchcock Road tossed eggs, striking a truck.
Theft: Michael T. Adams, 35, of Loveland Avenue, Youngstown, faced a felony-theft charge after a woman reported her purse stolen from a shopping cart at Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive. Adams then fled on a bicycle, police said.
Arrest: A traffic stop near Market Street resulted in the arrest of Samuel Boone, 48, of West Indianola Avenue, Youngstown, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired. Boone’s blood-alcohol count was 0.197, more than twice the legal limit, a report stated.
Theft: A New Castle, Pa., woman at a Doral Drive big-box store discovered her wallet and $250 missing.
Sept. 28
Domestic violence: Meghan M. Jaeger, 28, of North Lima Road, Poland, was charged with the crime after her mother, of Maple Drive, alleged Jaeger had slapped her face during an argument related to Jaeger’s son.
