Mahoning commissioners award $769,416 contract for Lipkey Road work
YOUNGSTOWN
The Mahoning County commissioners awarded this morning a $769,416 contract to Shelly & Sands Inc. of Zanesville for reconstruction, culvert repair, drainage improvements and repaving of Lipkey Road in Jackson Township from Mahoning Avenue to the Trumbull County line.
The Ohio Turnpike will pay 78 percent of the project cost, with the remainder coming from local license plate fee and fuel tax revenue to the county engineer’s office.
Drainage around Lipkey Road is affected by Ohio Turnpike embankments and interchange ramps, explained County Engineer Patrick Ginnetti.
The commissioners also voted to close Garfield Road between Green Beaver and Germantown roads in Beaver Township for 45 days beginning Monday to replace a bridge superstructure.
They also authorized James Fortunato, county purchasing director, to advertise for a public auction of surplus county vehicles, equipment, tools and supplies.
