Cruze sales down, GM posts 12 percent increase overall
DETROIT
September sales on the Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze dropped 23.8 percent, General Motors reported Thursday.
Cruze went from 18,415 sales in September 2014 down to 14,032 last month.
GM’s Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac brands sold 251,310 vehicles in the U.S. in September 2015. Retail deliveries climbed 17 percent compared with a year ago, which makes September the sixth month in a row that GM has increased retail market share year over year. Total sales were up 12.5 percent from last September’s 223,437 sales.
Commercial deliveries increased 10 percent year over year for the 23rd consecutive monthly increase. Consistent with GM’s plan, total fleet sales were down 5 percent due to a 12 percent decline in rental deliveries.
Chevrolet crossovers were up 49 percent and pickups were up 22 percent. GMC crossovers were up 20 percent and pickups were up 32 percent. Buick had its best September since 2006. Cadillac SRX sales were up 85 percent.
