Two early college students registering for bachelor’s degree classes
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
For the first time in its history, Youngstown Early College High School seniors will be starting on their Youngstown State University semester hours toward their bachelor’s degree.
Shyann Green and Jordan Rawl will have completed more than 60 college semester hours by the end of fall semester 2015 at YSU, earning their associate degrees.
The students will receive those degrees at YSU’s May commencement.
In previous years, Youngstown Early College students completed the college hours required for the associate degree at the end of the spring semester.
However, Shyann, an anthropology major, and Jordan, a biochemistry major, are registering for classes toward their bachelor’s degrees.
With each graduation, Youngstown Early College increases the number of students who earn their associate degrees.
The May 2016 graduating class has 22 seniors on track to earn their high-school diplomas and associate degrees simultaneously.
