Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, active exercise at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God and senior spinning at 9, piloxing, bingo, painting class, quilting and beginning computer class at 10, advanced computer class at 11:30 and lunch at noon; Tuesday, active exercise and pilates at 8 a.m., video class on thermodynamics at 9, S.O.S. at 9:30, Youngstown Women’s Connection, bingo and quilting at 10, line dancing at 10:30, chair yoga and iPad class at 11:30, lunch and crocheting at noon and AARP choir at 1 p.m.; Wednesday, active exercise at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God and blood pressure checks at 9, bingo, intermediate computer class, quilting and body pump at 10, senior spinning (E) at 10:30, yoga at 11, advanced computer class at 11:30, $3 pizza party at noon and TOPS at 12:15 p.m.; Thursday, active exercise at 8 a.m., video class on inventions that changed the world at 8:50, vets helping vets and wood carving at 9, S.O.S. at 9:30, chair yoga, quilting, crocheting and fencing at 10, knitting at 11 and lunch/grocery bingo at noon; and Friday, active exercise at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God, video class on western civilization, trip to the dog show at IX Center and senior spinning (S) at 9, senior spinning (E) at 9:30, bingo and quilting at 10 and Drums Alive at 10:15. Gathering Place event will take place at 11 a.m. Dec. 14 at Lord of Life Church, 550 N. Broad St., Canfield. The Canfield High School musical group will present a Christmas program, and lunch will be provided by Woodlands. This is a free community outreach social program offered to all senior citizens on the second Monday of each month. A variety of games and activities are offered. Girard Multi-Generational Center is sponsoring a program, “A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns about Falls,” at First Christian Church, 140 E. Broadway Ave., Girard. Classes will be 1 to 2:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays starting Dec. 7; class dates will be Dec. 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28 and 30. The program is designed to manage falls and increase activity levels for older adults. Participants will learn fall prevention strategies along with specific exercises designed to increase strength, endurance, flexibility and balance. The program is appropriate for those concerned about falls or interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength, or those who have fallen in the past. The program is free. Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer program of Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for new volunteers. Angel volunteers receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, a visit in a nursing home or a visit at home.
