Local author wins book festival award

Christine Orenic-Ward was named as a runner-up in the Midwest Book Festival in California for her book “Silent No More.”

More than 1,000 books competed in the festival.

Orenic-Ward traveled to Chicago on Nov. 21 to accept her award.

The author is working on a second book entitled “Tragedy to Triumph.”

Orenic-Ward was born and raised in the Mahoning Valley and lives in Atlanta.
