The Mahoning Valley Gun Collectors will have a winter gun show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 12 and 13 at the Lowellville Rod and Gun Club, 6225 Quarry Road.

Admission is $4. The public is invited to buy, sell and trade guns, knives and military collectibles.

All firearms must be unloaded and are subject to inspection before entering. For more information, call 330-506-9194.

Meat shoots

Hillsville Pa.

The Mahoning Sportsmen’s Association, 1.5 miles south of U.S. Route 224 at State Line Marker (Main Street) in Hillsville, Pa., will have meat shoots at 7 p.m. on the third Sunday of each month through March.

License plate fund grant program

COLUMBUS

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is accepting applications for the Ohio Geology License Plate Fund grant program that helps support graduate students conducting geologic research in the state.

The program was established in 2012 and is funded through renewals of the Ohio Rocks! license plates offered by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. The revenue generated is used to promote earth science education and outreach throughout the state.

Beginning in spring 2016, the ODNR Division of Geological Survey will award two $1,200 grants to earth science students at Ohio colleges and universities for graduate-level research on Ohio’s geology.
