Dog license registration for Columbiana, Trumbull and Mahoning counties will begin Tuesday

Dog licenses for 2016 will go on sale Tuesday in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.

MAHONING COUNTY

The Mahoning County Dog Warden’s office, 589 Industrial Road, Youngstown, requires dog licensing every year for all dogs 3 months old and older. All dogs must be licensed each year by Jan. 31; dogs acquired after Jan. 31 must be licensed immediately to avoid penalties.

The warden is also requiring proof of rabies vaccines.

Licenses purchased Tuesday through Jan. 31 are $20; those purchased after Jan. 31 are $40. There is no penalty at any time for dogs licensed at 3 months, however, a dog must be licensed before 4 months old to avoid penalty. Dogs that turn 3 months after July 1 are prorated to $10. License agents throughout the county include the Dog Warden; Auditor’s office at the Mahoning County Courthouse, 120 Market St.; Union Square License at Union Square Plaza, 667 Gypsy Lane; Southside License, 3623 Market St.; Westside License, 2950 Mahoning Ave., all in Youngstown.

Also, Lake Milton Pharmacy, 17674 Mahoning Ave., Lake Milton; Becker Pet Funeral Services, 123 Poland Ave., Struthers; Poland License, 3057 Center Road, Suite C, Poland; Agland Co-op, 364 Lisbon St., and Angels for Animals, 4750 state Route 165, both in Canfield; Millstone Farm and Garden Center, 13788 Columbiana-Canfield Road, Columbiana; Boardman License at Boardman Plaza, 229 Boardman-Canfield Road, and Do-Cut Sales and Service, 1401 Boardman-Canfield Road, both in Boardman; Leonard Hardware Co., 145 N. 15th St., Sebring; and George’s Party Shop, 1066 state Route 170, New Middletown. The warden, auditor, Becker, Poland and Boardman license offices, Angels for Animals, Leonard and George’s sell licenses all year.

TRUMBULL COUNTY

Kennel licenses can be obtained from the Trumbull County Auditor’s Office only, 160 High St. NW, Warren. Kennel licenses are not available at any other licensing locations.

A dog license can be printed online by visiting auditor.co.trumbull.oh.us/aud_doglic.html, Make checks payable to the county auditor and mail to Trumbull County Auditor, 160 High St. NW, Warren, Ohio 44481, Attn: Dog License Division.

Dog tags can now be purchased online for an additional processing fee of $2 per tag at www.doglicenses.us/oh/trumbull. Use a 2012 dog license number to access online information on the website.

Registration is open from Tuesday through Jan. 31, 2016. After Jan. 31, new dogs must be registered within 30 days of ownership.

COLUMBIANA COUNTY

The registration fee for the one-year license is $10, the three-year license is $30, and the permanent license is $100.

Owners should be aware these longer-term licenses are only being sold in the county auditor’s office and not refundable in the event of the death of the animal or if the dog is passed to a new owner.

Any owner who has received a pre-printed application in the mail is asked to bring that to pick up the license. The auditor’s office will again accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and debit cards, in addition to cash, checks and money orders. Electronic transactions are also possible for current account holders at www.columbianacountydoglicense.com beginning Tuesday. A convenience fee will be assessed for all electronic transactions.

Dog-license applications and payments may also be mailed to the county’s auditor’s office at 105 S. Market St., Lisbon, OH 44432, with a postmark of Feb. 1 or earlier.

Outside agents will be selling licenses through Jan. 31 at a cost of $10 per license, plus a 75-cent processing fee per application. After Jan. 31, licenses will only be sold at the auditor’s office and dog pound.

Outside agents’ locations are Milligan True Value Hardware, 320 Smith St., East Liverpool; Fuller’s True Value, 162 N. Market St., East Palestine; and Pure Pet, 148 Penn Ave., Salem.
