Sauce and Songs scheduled for Dec. 6

St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., will host its monthly Sauce and Song program Dec. 6 at the church.

The event begins with a spaghetti dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Carryouts are available; containers will be provided.

A one-hour “Gospel Christmas” concert from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. will feature the Mahoning Valley Chorale under the direction of Kris Harper performing gospel selections of holiday carols as well as original songs. Antonie Jackson, trumpet performance major, and Dominic DeLaurentis, oboe and piano major, will accompany the chorale.

Students from the Southside Fine Arts Academy also will perform songs and dance, and a song and drum circle will feature Sogbety Diomande.

Spaghetti dinner for Nicole Wheatley

YOUNGSTOWN

A benefit spaghetti dinner for Nicole (Welch) Wheatley will take place from noon to 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road.

There also will be a basket auction and 50-50 raffle.

Wheatley was diagnosed with cancer in 2013. On Dec. 22, 2014, she also had a massive stroke. She receives physical therapy to learn to walk again, occupational therapy to regain the use of her right arm and hand, and speech therapy to learn to talk, read and write.

Proceeds from the event will be used for Wheatley’s medical costs.
