Edgar J. Camacho, 24, of South Street in Warren is in the Trumbull County jail in lieu of $20,000 bond, charged with trying to run over another man with his car at 2:17 a.m. Sunday near a Youngstown Road restaurant.

No plea was required on the felony charge of felonious assault when Camacho was arraigned Monday in Niles Municipal Court.

The victim, 20, said he and Camacho, who are co-workers and live in the same apartment building, had been inside the restaurant and got into an argument that turned physical. Camacho then tried to hit the victim with his car in back of the restaurant but the victim jumped out of the way, Niles police said.

Police noticed the car on Youngstown Road and tried to make a traffic stop, but Camacho didn’t stop. Howland police arrested Camacho on North Road and took him into custody.

A man suspected in multiple aggravated robberies was arraigned Monday in Girard Municipal Court. U.S. Marshals arrested David Williams, 23, of Girard in Youngstown on Friday. Girard police charged him with two counts of aggravated robbery in armed robberies from Highland Dairy last Wednesday and Dollar General Nov. 14.

He faces another count of aggravated robbery through Liberty Township in a Nov. 17 holdup at Speedway on Belmont Avenue. A Speedway employee told police a man walked up to the counter, said he had a gun in his pocket and demanded money.

A preliminary hearing is set for today.

Heroin charges for 3

YOUNGSTOWN

Police arrested three people on possession-of-heroin charges Monday in two separate incidents. At 6:50 p.m., Ray Abercrombie, 33, of Salem and Mariah Styles, 24, no address available, were found with drugs in a parking lot in the 3000 block of Youngstown-Poland Road after someone told police two people were doing drugs in a car. Reports said police found a dose of suspected heroin and needles and spoons in the car.

Also Monday, Justin Lamp, 27, no address available, was arrested after he was found in a car in a parking lot in the 2500 block of Market Street that is well known for drug activity. Reports said officers saw him throw a piece of wax paper out of the car that had a dose of suspected heroin inside. All three were taken to the Mahoning County jail.

Resisting, tampering

YOUNGSTOWN

A woman who police tried to investigate for an improper turn at 12:10 a.m. Tuesday was booked into the Mahoning County jail on resisting arrest and tampering with evidence after she swallowed a bag with suspected drugs inside, police said.

Officers saw a car driven by Lena Anderson, 41, make a turn without signaling and followed her into a driveway in the 1400 block of Bryson Street, reports said, where Anderson told them she had a suspended license.

Reports said she kept reaching into her pocket despite being asked several times not to. When she was searched, a knife was found in her coat pocket and she was holding a sandwich bag with suspected drugs, reports said.

Reports said she resisted efforts to be handcuffed and told police she only had marijuana. Whatever she had in the bag she managed to swallow and told police she had swallowed some “weed,” reports said.

An ambulance was called to treat Anderson, and a police hold was placed on her at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
