Lecture on how not to get scammed

YOUNGSTOWN

A one-hour lecture titled “Fraud Watch: How to Avoid Getting Scammed” will be presented by Jim Crawford, a volunteer with the American Association of Retired Persons, at noon Monday at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane.

Topics will include fraud trends and behavior, the top scams in Ohio, con artist tactics and prevention strategies. The event will include lunch. Reservations must be made by Wednesday. Call Sheila Cornell at 330-746-3250, ext. 184.

L’Uva Bella Winery open Wednesdays

L’Uva Bella Winery and Bistro, 6597 Center Road, has expanded its days of operations. Beginning this week, the winery will be open Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. (opening at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 25 only).

L’Uva Bella includes a wine-tasting bar, private dining and tasting rooms, lounge, a stone patio and bistro featuring a wood-fired pizza oven imported from Italy, imported meats and cheeses and homemade Italian specialties.

Head winemaker Charles Crespi will offer tours Friday and Saturday, which will include a wine tasting, cheese, crackers and homemade sopressata. The cost is $10 per person. Call 330-536-6450 for reservations.
