The suspect in a shooting at a South Side bar last week that killed a man and injured five others was taken into custody over the weekend.

Daniel Harris, 36, of Becky Court in Boardman, was arraigned Monday in municipal court on a count of aggravated murder and four counts of felonious assault. Judge Robert Milich set his bond at $1.2 million.

Harris was taken into custody by police over the weekend at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, where he was treated for wounds police said he suffered in the Nov. 17 shooting outside the Southern Tavern on Glenwood Avenue.

Detectives said Harris blamed the victim, Tony Brown, 34, for having something to do with a Nov. 17 homicide on West Myrtle Avenue and when Harris saw Brown outside the bar, they got in an argument and started shooting.

Brown was killed and four other people, including two inside the bar, were wounded. Harris also was wounded, but detectives still are trying to figure out who returned fire and shot Harris,.

Another man in that homicide case, Gregory Stanford, 28, had his $35,000 bond continued by Judge Milich as he was arraigned on a felony charge of obstructing justice. Stanford was to be arraigned Friday, but because of a mix-up among court, jail and police personnel, he was not able to be arraigned, so another judge set his bond at $35,000. Stanford spent the weekend in jail because that bond could not be posted.

Stanford is accused of driving Harris to the bar and then driving him to the hospital after he was shot.

Police said Harris thought Brown had something to do with the death of Thomas Owens, 33, who died after being shot while in a parked car with three other men – one of them Brown – early Nov. 17 as it was parked in the 500 block of West Myrtle Avenue.

Detectives said Brown had nothing to do with the death of Owens.

Police have charged three people in that homicide and one of them, Jason Heard, 19, is in the Mahoning County jail on $300,000 bond on charges of aggravated murder and three counts of felonious assault. Police still are searching for the other two suspects. Police are looking for Jawonn Hymes, 25, and Leonard Savage, 21. They face the same charges as Heard.
