SRMC wins award
SALEM
Salem Regional Medical Center has been named a 2015 Guardian of Excellence Award winner for clinical quality by Press Ganey Associates Inc. The Guardian of Excellence Award is a nationally recognized symbol of outstanding achievement in health care awarded to the top 5 percent of Press Ganey clients who have consistently achieved performance excellence in clinical quality during the course of one year.
“Salem Regional Medical Center was selected for the Guardian of Excellence Award based on Press Ganey’s evaluation of the hospital’s performance in nearly 40 patient care measures, ranging from the management of heart attack and stroke patients to infection prevention,” explained Dr. Anita Hackstedde, SRMC’s president and CEO.
According to Dr. Hackstedde, the hospital has launched a number of initiatives to enhance patient safety and the quality of care provided at SRMC. For example, SRMC’s health-care team works diligently to ensure that patients fully understand their illness and next steps in their treatment plan, so they are less likely to return to the hospital in an effort to reduce readmissions.

SRMC earns Gold Seal
SALEM
Salem Regional Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Hospital Accreditation by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health-care quality and safety in hospitals.
Salem Regional underwent an unannounced on-site survey in July 2015 during which a team of Joint Commission surveyors evaluated SRMC for compliance with standards of care related to several areas, including emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.
A surveyor also evaluated Salem Home Medical, which provides durable medical equipment and supplies, in a separate but simultaneous two-day Joint Commission survey. Both facilities received three-year accreditations from The Joint Commission.
