HOMELESS statistics

Mahoning County’s homeless population:

Was 183 in 2010 and plateaued at 223, 224 and 227, respectively, in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

In 2014, the count had 256 homeless, including eight of them unsheltered.

In 2015, the number grew to 368, of whom 74 were unsheltered.

Growth in the numbers was due to improvements in the counting process.

The figures are based on the annual point-in-time count by the local Continuum of Care.

Most of the county’s homeless people are in Youngstown.

The population of Mahoning County was 233,204 in 2013.
