VFW to send care packages to soldiers

NEWTON FALLS

Newton Falls Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3332 and the VFW Auxiliary 3332 are collecting items to send to military personnel through Nov. 27 at the post home, 433 Arlington Road.

The post seeks packaged cookies, crackers, wrapped candies, puddings, protein bars, hot beverage mixes, meal enhancers like ramen noodles, seasoned salt, individual packets of hot sauce, mustard, relish or ketchup, and small canned goods like soup or fruit. Toothbrushes, toothpaste and hygiene items are also needed. Homemade baked items and mouth wash with alcohol cannot be sent to military personnel.

Take names and addresses of family members or friends currently serving in the military and the post will send them care packages.

Feed the Need 5k to benefit Second Harvest

The Vertical Runner is sponsoring a 7th Annual Feed the Need 5K that will start and finish at The Learning Tree, 201 Ohio Ave., on Nov. 28.

Canned goods will be collected during the event and donated to Second Harvest Food Bank. Monetary donations will benefit the Lions’ Charities of choice.
