U.S. Marshals arrest Girard man wanted in multiple aggravated robberies
Staff report
GIRARD
U.S. marshals arrested a man Friday who was wanted in multiple aggravated robberies in the city.
David Williams, 23, is a suspect in the aggravated robbery of Highland Dairy on North Highland Avenue on Wednesday and the robbery of Dollar General on Church Hill Road on Saturday.
Girard Police Capt. John Norman said another robbery at Highland Dairy in October – in which two armed men wearing Halloween masks demanded money – appears to be an unrelated incident. Williams is not a suspect in that robbery, Norman said.
Williams, who also was wanted by the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for parole violation, was booked into the Trumbull County Jail and will be arraigned Monday in Girard Municipal Court on two counts of aggravated robbery.
The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force branch of the U.S. Marshals office, acting on a tip, arrested Williams about 4 p.m. Friday in Youngstown after a five-day search.
The task force announced an award earlier this week for information leading to Williams’ arrest.
