Man becomes threatening to police

YOUNGSTOWN

A man being cited for OVI Thursday was also arrested for threatening several police officers.

Police pulled over Vincent Cappelli, 57, about 8:40 p.m. after he stopped a car he was driving stopped abruptly in the middle of the intersection at Oak Hill Avenue and Marshall Street.

Reports said officers found a half empty bottle of wine in the car where Cappelli was sitting. Reports said he became combative and threatened to kill police when they asked him to take a field sobriety test and told him they would have to tow his car.

Reports said a front seat passenger told police he had been drinking with Cappelli but Cappelli was driving because the passenger told police he was too drunk to drive.

Reports said at the police station Cappelli refused to take a blood alcohol content breath test and threatened to kill police at least five times and he made more threats when he was taken to the Mahoning County jail, where he was booked on charges of OVI and aggravated menacing.
