Men indicted on drug charges

CLEVELAND

A federal grand jury has indicted two Warren men and a Las Vegas man on charges they conspired to possess with intent to distribute more than 11 pounds of cocaine between Oct. 16 and 20.

The defendants are Menford McCain, 33, and Larone Deshawn Williams, 45, both of Warren, and Dockery Cleveland, 36, of Las Vegas.

The indictment, filed Tuesday, includes a specification for forfeiture of $111,020 seized Oct. 20 from McCain in Warren.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration office in Youngstown.

Gunshot wound

YOUNGSTOWN

A Boardman man is being treated at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital after he was found about 1:50 a.m. Wednesday with a gunshot wound to the stomach inside a home in the 600 block of Samuel Street on the South Side.

Reports do not give much detail but the 36-year-old Amherst Avenue man was first reported to be lying in the driveway but was found inside.

Chief of Detectives Capt. Brad Blackburn said the man is expected to survive and he may have been at the home to buy drugs before he was shot.

Jeffrey Bell, 52, of Hubbard will face a pretrial hearing Dec. 3 in Girard Municipal Court on charges of theft, driving under the influence, carrying concealed weapons and possession of drugs.

Hubbard police responded to a call Sunday about a theft of sleeping pills from Dollar General on West Liberty Street. According to a police report, an officer stopped a suspected vehicle for not using a turn signal while heading west on West Liberty Street.

Bell, the driver, told police he forgot to pay for the pills. He had slurred speech and trouble sitting up, the report states. Police also reported finding a machete and Suboxone pills in the vehicle. Bell told police he used the machete for farm work in Brookfield.

He entered not-guilty pleas to the charges at his arraignment Tuesday.

Vice squad finds gun, cash, camera

YOUNGSTOWN

Members of the vice squad found a .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun, $764 cash and security cameras about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday while serving a search warrant investigating drug activity at an Almyra Avenue home.

Police also took three people into custody, reports said. They are Michael Seidita, 24, of Lowellville; Joseph Jackson, 18, of Campbell; and Wesley Warren, 38, of Detroit Avenue.

Also found were several used needles, spoons, and a police scanner, reports said.
